Just a note to say this is an excellent site that looks as though it's been put together, produced and written with a great deal of forethought and creativity...and is seasoned with obvious experience.
Good job! I'll keep reading. And I don't think it will be long before you and the Jax Beach Journal begin snagging the attention of advertisers who see the value of being part of this site by virtue of their sponsorship.

Already you are scooping local TV news in many areas!!! Kudos and keep it up!!!

By Boortz' logic, McCain & Palin couldn't get a security clearance either. McCain was good friends with G. Gordon Liddy, the convicted Watergate felon who publicly encouraged the Branch Davidians to shoot ATF agents in the head on his radio show. McCain attended a fundraiser at Liddy's home, and on the air he told Liddy that he was proud of him (this was WELL AFTER Liddy's encouraged the murder of ATF agents). Liddy also publicly said on his radio show that he wanted to bomb civilians in Vietnam, and that Hitler had been a positive influence on him.

Palin of course is married to a man who was a member of the Alaska Independence Party for 7 years, which wants to secede from the USA. The group AIP was founded by Joe Vogler, who publicly stated that he hated America. Sarah Palin has attended AIP conventions and spoke at one just this year, telling them to "keep up the good work".

On to the 2 "lies" Neal mentions. Re: the first "lie". First, Neal doesn't mention that Obama's tax cuts are for 95% of working Americans, not just Americans in general. Neal does mention though that the tax cuts are in the payroll tax, but he muddies a couple of key points:

* The 95% of working Americans who will receive a tax cut will pay less in payroll tax. The tax cut WILL NOT be tied to your income tax, so you will not see this tax cut in the form of a tax rebate check AT ALL. Every single working American pays payroll taxes.

* Neal acknowledges that these tax cuts will come out of the Social Security trust fund, but he seems to think that Obama has no current plan to compensate the SS fund for that, except that Obama will "soak the rich" for it later. Obama has already made it very clear that all those with annual earnings of $250K & over will have to pay the SS tax on all their earnings, there will no longer be a $102K cap for them. (the $102K cap will still be there for those earning between $102K and $250K). So, where exactly is the lie here?

Re: "Lie" #2, the 'lie of omission'. Talk about a lie of omission, Neal's really hoodwinking the gullible with this one. Obama's "socialist tax hike" is actually just letting the Bush tax cuts on the top brackets end, and returning to Bill Clinton's tax rates for those brackets. If you'll recall, the economy experienced the strongest sustained period of growth since WWII during the Clinton years. As a matter of fact, the USA enjoyed 40 continuous months straight of an unemployment rate below 5 %, and toward the end of Clinton's 2nd term the unemployment rate was the lowest it had been in 30 years. When Clinton took office in Jan. 1993, the unemployment rate was exactly what it is now - 6.1 %.

So if history is any indication (and it usually is), Obama's return to Clinton's tax rates for the top brackets wouldn't adversely affect the employment rate at all, quite the contrary. And when you factor in Obama's business tax credit of $3K for every job created here in the USA, Obama's plan bodes even better for the growth of jobs.

I think this stimulus check is only for the well to do people. Why don't they have something for us people on ssi? We are living below poverty. Its not like we can go out and work. I am a very sickly person and live on the measly $724.00 a month and just can't make it. This is below poverty people. PLEASE WAKE UP!!! Thanks . I needed to sound off. I hope someone listens.

I am retired and live on SS, I was sent the 1040A form which I filled out and sent along with the copies of my income to the IRS that was in April. In June I called them they said they had my paperwork and it would be July or August before I get the check. About two weeks ago I went online to their site IRS, and was denied they said I did not make enough income, my gross is about Twelve or somewhere around there. Also, why are single people getting six hundred dollars and WE THE POOREST OF THE POOR CANNOT EVEN GET THE THREE HUNDRED? THEY SCREW US EVERY TIME. WE ARE DUE THIS THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. It states if you make three thousand dollars in wages, SS and/or some pensions you can get the money. SO WHERE IS THE MONEY IRS. Everyone CALL YOUR STATE'S TAX ADVOCATE

we got the same screw job; we were told that we got denied the stimulus pay because she did not change her name with social security when she got married. since when is that necessary? does the social security number not control and override name variations? no, they said, but it used to be that way. The government changed it. When, does anyone know? At this point I do not know whether to file an amended return and use her maiden name or to change her name with social security. It's a crock, courtesy Bush and Cheney.

people beware that there is a loop hole to screw people out of their stimulus rebate. My wife and i have filed jointly for the past 8 years and we were expecting a stimulus rebate. only to find out that we were denied because my wife did not put her entire maiden and married name on the tax form. we recieved the regular rebate but were told by the irs that her social security # did not match the name on file with the social security dept. that congress passed this rebate into law and if you social security # does not perfectly match in the database you will be denied.
