Gas station cleanup continues
Cleanup continues at a gas station on the corner of Beach Boulevard and 3rd Street (A1A) in Jacksonville Beach. Workers began replacing underground tanks and equipment with new corrosion resistant equipment that’s required to be installed by the end of next year. (Click for larger image)
Since Florida depends on groundwater for drinking water, it has some of the toughest ground contamination laws in the country. The Chevron station, pictured here, was in the midst of replacing the tanks when workers found contaminated soil. They are presently working to decontaminate the soil.
